Murphy Maude Interiors is an Interior Design Firm focused on residential and boutique commercial environments and how they can best represent the clients they serve. We strive to ensure that our systematic approach allows the creative design process to be at the forefront of the everyday. 

We work as a collaborative team, all with an entrepreneurial spirit, that takes our design work to a custom level not typical in the Mid-south region. The next MMI team member will have the opportunity to collaborate with our design teams on both new construction, renovation, furniture and digital design projects. 

The next MMI team member will be an Interior Designer or Interior Architect, proficient in Revit and pursuing licensure or already licensed. The team member will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Memphis team while also helping us to build upon our portfolio of projects in the Nashville area; working in both residential and boutique commercial projects in the regional southeast.

The team member will be engaged in new projects beginning with initial conversations with clients to understand their needs and create the vision of the project. The Project Manager will lead the design scope of work. This team member will also derive support from the MMI Cabinet Specialists, MMI Digital Design team and the Mable Originals product creation team as needed.  

Specific design tasks: include facilitating client kickoff meetings and visioning exercises, site measurement and transition of information into Revit model, development of 3D models for all projects, reviewing budgets and comparing current state of budget utilization, review and work within project schedules, exterior and interior material specifications, cabinet design and sales, creating furniture spatial plans, custom lighting design, wallcovering plans, identifying custom art and wallpaper opportunities and assistance in creating that art if part of the team member’s strengths, construction detailing as required, develop construction drawings, and additional tasks as needed to fully represent and implement the design intent and detailing. Site visits during the design and construction process are required, and the potential for traveling to project sites outside of the region are also considered as part of this role. The project manager will be expected to have or be in the process of acquiring licensure.

An ideal team member will:

  • Be a licensed designer or pursuing licensure with a passion for the interior environment 
  • Have a minimum of 3 years experience in the industry 
  • Know and understand the Nashville design landscape 
  • Provide clear, consistent, and respectful communication with clients, contractors, vendors 
  • Be able to effectively organize and manage information
  • Be proficient in Revit, Sketchup, 3D modeling; photo-realistic rendering
  • Utilize excel for project budgeting, and ensure designs are tracking in line with the budget
  • Be able to work independently and complete tasks within a rapid turnaround time with great problem solving skills. 
  • Be proactive and action oriented

This opportunity is best fit for a designer with technical skills (within the Autodesk Revit platform) and a passion for one or more of our original design offerings. They will be joining a small but nimble team and can have immediate impact.

As a small business, project goals are outlined, and team members have flexibility in how they complete the individual tasks needed to achieve the overall goals. We are a deadline driven environment which provides flexibility in how we work. Typically together from 9-5, we, like many others, have processes in place to allow for remote work as needed, desired, and agreed upon.
